DACATIE – CAVITY CLOSERS
Dacatie is a range of insulated cavity closers, frame formers and insulated DPC. These products are primarily used by brickwork contractors in residential cavity wall construction.
As a market leader, the Dacatie brand gives specifiers and building contractors the assurance of the essential Building Regulation compliance in the construction of cavity walls in the area of reveals around windows and doors. Dacatie Insulated Cavity Closers have British Board of Agrement (BBA) Certificates.
The Dacatie profiles are extruded from reconstituted PVCu and include insulation of EPS, XPS or mineral wool. All of which are CFC free and are zero rated for Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP).
WHY DO YOU NEED A CAVITY CLOSER?
You need a cavity closer for four main reasons:
- Heat loss and cold penetration
- Prevent moisture penetration
- Create a fire barrier
- Comply with Part L of the Building Regulations
HOW DO I FIT A CAVITY CLOSER?
The Dacatie frame former is suitable for use with all window and door frames, including timber, PVCu and aluminium. For easy installation follow these steps.
Build wall up to still height and locate the Dacatie Frame Former in the cavity (check former is square and propped up vertically).
Build up courses of brickwork/blockwork inserting brick ties alternately between the brick and the block every 225mm (every three bricks or every course of block work).
Brick up to lintel height and remove bracing (if applicable).
Build in lintel and upper brickwork.
